– 10.1 MP APS-C Sensor (CMOS)
– 6.5 fps continuous shooting (up to 75 JPEGs)
– New / improved AF with 9 cross-type sensors
– DIGIC III Processing
– 3.0-inch LCD + Live-View
– Integrated EOS Cleaning System

Canon 1Ds Mark III, available Nov. / Dec. at $7999 USD:
– 21.1 MP Full Frame Sensor (CMOS)
– 5 fps continuous shooting (@ 1/500 or faster for up to 45 JPEG / 15 RAW)

The other exciting announcement was a second-generation of the Canon EF 14 MM f/2.8 USM lens. This replaces the v1 lens, which never received highly favorable reviews.

Well, the budget has been blown for the next while… but it appears that the 40D will be available on September 20 and the 1Ds Mark III in November — order soon, as they are likely to be in short supply for some time!
