From the Seattle PI: Documents on warming altered. And the same from CNN: U.S. official edited warming, emission link.

Apparently inserting adjectives, deleting paragraphs, and shifting tone is something that is normal and alright for the White House to do when reviewing documents pertaining to global environmental change.

Take a look at this article about the handwritten notes of Philip Cooney who is chief of staff for the White House Council on Environmental Quality. Sad.

Here’s another interesting article: Academies call for greenhouse gas reductions.

I’m not in the least surprised. This has been one of the least transparent administration in memory or ever for that matter. Look how many press conferences they have had. I have an easier time seeing a UFO than Cheney.

These guys will do anything to impart their world view on us because they think there is some overwhelmig mandate. Their egos are inflated beyond comprehension. We went to war on a lie, more appropriately their view of how the world should be. They never admit a mistake or that they are even in the least bit wrong even if the science says so. This is just another example of the same thing. If they don’t like the science they change it, if they don’t like the facts they blow them up (remember the inevitable Iraqi Nuke WMD that was going to hit NY, now think of words like “extremely” in the report) even if it is in subtle ways it gets their agenda across and people (the Democrats in Washington) are too chicken to call them on it. This report will be dismissed as it is from the “liberal” NY Times. They will likely call it some sort of liberal scheme or witch hunt and they will come out on top. Same old same old, sigh…

Agreed and sigh. I think that’s why the British called that memo “nothing new”, regardless if it was first or as Matt claims 4th hand; they don’t feel it makes any difference. That’s how this administration acts.
