Renovation Updates.

So I hadn’t posted our most recent renovation work for a while; my brother was in town for a couple weeks and he, as well as my parents and Arzhang, helped with some more updating. Last weekend was doors and trim; we ripped out all the ugly brown false wood trim and replaced it with nice painted white real wood trim from Home Depot. It was a relatively easy, inexpensive update, and we got to play with a nail gun ($27/day and worth it).

Meanwhile, my dad and I went to work on installing some new bathroom ceiling fans. The old ones were more than likely original [15-yr old], loud, and inefficient. We replaced them with some nice Panasonic FV-11VFL1s. They’re beautiful, quiet (2 sones), provide twice the light (or more) relative to what we had (two 13-watt fluorescents [new] vs one 60 watt incandescent [old]), and really move air (110 CFM).

We’re finishing Arzhang’s bathroom first and then will work on the master. So we’ve ordered a new cabinet, picked out the new floor, and all the faucets, sink, toilet etc. But you have to check out the new lighting — I figured it wouldn’t be in the way to do now so it was ordered and installed this last week. It’s one of Illuminating Experiences Elf line; the Elf 2i, and later the Elf 3i for the master (links from Lighting by Gregory).

On retailers and delivery service: Wave Plumbing was reputable and very quick; my Panasonic fans shipped on the same day of purchase and arrived within two days. Likewise, Lighting by Gregory was good; they had the best prices on the Elf 2i & 3i lights (10% discount good till Aug-30 — HOT-123); my only annoyance is that they didn’t email me shipping confirmation. It had shipped and arrived fast, I just like the email confirmation which they said they sent…but they didn’t. I would / and plan to do business with both again. I never new it, and maybe it was a coincidence, but both shipped through DHL. I had never received packages from DHL before, and while was very impressed with their speed in getting here was unimpressed with they tried to deliver my first package to the business on the first floor (unrelated to the condominiums). They didn’t figure out the call box until round two, now all is fine.

Anyway, more updates soon. Cabinet should arrive in 3-4 weeks, and we’ll do the marble floor, sink, faucets, and toilet in Arzhang’s bathroom at that time.
