Better Bathrooms (Renovation Part 2).
This past weekend I took a stab at working on my bathroom, Arzhang has been enjoying the work from the previous renovation and I figured I should have a turn.
My bathroom took a bit more work, although my parents were nice enough to come into town and help. I took Friday off as a vacation day and tackled removal of the old cabinets, removal of the floor, and old mirror. I managed to get the new cabinets in before having to babysit that night. On Saturday we relaxed a bit; I de-installed the toilet and began to prepare the floor for tile installation. This is about the least fun and most frustrating part; if you have linoleum down the adhesive is not fun to deal with. Some phosphoric acid did the trick (termed ‘etching’ for a reason). Sunday was the big day for the floor, it took most of the day (until about 7:30 PM) to get all the tile set in place and Monday after work I finished it with grout.
All and all pretty pleased. Take a look at a before and an after picture, or the comparison shot below.

My faucets for the vanity came in a day after I ordered them (shop Faucetline.com if you ever need any, good prices and 1-2 day shipping) and my sinks are set to arrive late this week or sometime next. The sad thing is the counter top. I’ve shopped several places comparing quotes and my measly little 5′ by 22″ vanity top is more than all the marble for the floors and shower surrounds (250 sq ft of it), and almost as much as the marble plus the cabinet itself (well, that was the high end quote). Bargaining on materials and cuts I suppose. I think I’ve made a decision, and will post an image when it’s in: warning, there is a 3-4 week lead time… =[.
