Updated Showers.

The new…

This was about the least fun I have had in a long time. I am definitely glad it is finished. You can see how one of the bathrooms was originally here. The old…

Tiling showers is a complex job; you have to remove the prior surround, pull out part of the wall (if the surround is not already tile, the wall is likely greenboard — it needs to be wonderboard or cementboard), put up a vapor barrier, level in to match the pre-existing wall with 1/2″ wonderboard or cementboard, and then you can tile. Most of the cutting isn’t so bad (large walls, similar cuts, mostly whole pieces), but the wall with the plumbing is a nightmare. I had to ask for help from a professional. Regardless, both showers have been laid with tile, grouted, sealed, and are functional. The last bit of work will happen today, then comes the big dry spell — no more work on the condo for a while. Pretty excited for that already, I see the light at the end of the long tunnel (and it has been a very long tunnel). Here are the details on the upgraded look, pretty happy with how it turned out.
