Kitchen mostly finished.
A few new pics…

Since the last update, a few more things have been added, namely, the countertop. As I eluded, it was pretty painful 2-weeks: no counter-top meant no sink (when you have an undermount sink like we do), which meant limited cooking ability, and no dishwasher use (even though it was all hooked up except for the drain). We had a piece of the old countertop in place so we had a small workspace and washed all the dishes by hand in the bathroom. It wasn’t so bad, though having the dishwasher here and that we just couldn’t use it made things seem worse. Last Friday the countertop was installed, then Saturday the microwave arrived. The disposal was the last appliance to arrive (which still prevented us from using our sink or dishwasher, after we had the countertop) — that came this past Tuesday. After fighting a minute drip Tuesday night [and giving up], all was hooked, drip free, and running Wednesday.
Happy to have a new kitchen all put together and needing to relax (did I mention I had my tonsils out last Wednesday?), I invited the family over for dinner yesterday (Saturday). It was great! We inaugurated the new kitchen with a feast. I even did a bit of the cooking, it was really fun. We took some recipes from my mom’s Cooking Light, then found another online. For an appetizer we had some home-made guacamole dip, for dinner a chicken pasta / vegetable dish, and for desert raspberry cooked peaches with yogurt. Here are some photos to illustrate.

All and all I think the whole kitchen project was a huge success. We have a fabulously updated kitchen, new appliances, and I am going to learn some cooking. All that is left is a bit of trim work. I am going to tile behind the range (and have the materials but haven’t done the work yet), then put a sleek wood trim to match the cabinets around the outside of the peninsula. That might be a bit though, I am enjoying some nice time relaxing.
